Founders’ Day is one of the national public holidays that Ghanaians observe to honor Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah the first President of Ghana and as the founding father of Ghana.
It was formally observed on every 21st of September but since President Akuffo Addo assumed power he proposed legislation to the government to observe it on 4th August and make 21st September as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day. Both is being observed as public holidays.
As expected of every current President to give a speech to mark the celebration, President Akuffo Addo has released a statement to acknowledge the founders and their major role played in attaining the Freedom Ghana have now.
