Hello world, I introduce to you the fast rising star Derrick Obuobie Junior widely known as J. Derobie. A young lad that shot to fame in the year 2019 through Mr. Eazi’s empower project, he grew up in the suburb of Nungua in the Greater Accra Region somewhere in Ghana.
As a young fierce guy with bigger dreams, looking forward to turn those dreams into reality, he had to go through life challenging moments where getting a job in order to earn an income to help finance his music journey. Going through all of this heddles and meaningful difficulties never stopped a boy from dreaming along and having faith there is light at the beginning of the tunnel which is entering into the Ghanaian music industry and using his music as a tool to change and take on the world.
Fast forward he was discovered through the internet by the extraordinary talented Afro beat superstar Mr. Eazi. Empower is a platform that scouts for talent on the African continent and even beyond. They help and nurture talents as well as investing into crafts.
J. Derobie took the world by surprise with the smash hit single POVERTY that featured Mr. Eazi and later had the world dancehall giant Popcaan jumped on the remix.
Since then, J. Derobie has another story to tell by releasing couple of singles, the likes of ODO BRA, IRIE, BACK IT, SE SIA, and also featuring on some musicians’ songs including Kwesi Arthur, Juls, GuityBeatz a whole lot.
The POVERTY hit maker, has again served as with breathtaking EP titled ‘NUNGUA DIARIES’. Nungua diaries talks about how he grew up and raised in his community which is Nungua and societies that influenced him as a person. He channeled the energy and story through varieties of melodies.
The EP contains six compilations Woyooi, Journey, My people, Ginger Me, Fake friends and Get that. This EP is available on all digital platforms (iTunes, Spotify, Apple music) as well as every streaming platforms like Audiomack and You Tube.
