2020 Presidential candidate, Former President John Dramani Mahama and lawyers filed a case against the Electoral Commission Jean Mensah, challenging the accuracy of the 2020 Presidential election and declaring Nana Addo as winner.

John Mahama claims the said winner of the 2020 elections benefited from computational and mathematical errors and the declaration of Nana Addo as the winner by Jean Mensah is not legit since no presidential candidate obtained more than 50% of the votes.

Hence, he petitioned the court to rule that Jean Mensah’s declaration is a breach of the constitution and order a re run between the two presidential candidates.

But the EC downplayed all the accusations and stated that they are untrue although their chairperson initially announced that Nana Addo has won 51.59% of the votes instead of 51.295%

Therefore on several hearings, the court has dismissed the election petition by NDC presidential candidate John Mahama.

The Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah stated that the petition is being rejected because it holds no merit and finds no reason to order a re run of the 2020 elections.
