Mr. Ivor Kwabena Greenstreet, the flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), says his administration will not borrow from international development organizations to develop the country.
In his quest to restore the people’s faith in government, the CPP will generate revenue through internal initiatives to recover the country’s economy, which has already been devasted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He made this opinion in the IMANI Africa and Joy New program dubbed, “Minority Political Parties Debate” on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
“We will not even start new projects but concentrate on completing the existing projects. The scale of our debt crises is monumental, and we will begin to face it next year” he said.
The CPP presidential aspirant also said that the outrageous debt which has been accumulated by previous borrowing will be cut back with comprehensives plan. This will strengthen sectors which are suffering from the debt.
“There are areas where we can tackle remittance for foreign companies. We can change the laws with regards to how much w earn form our resources, and those are areas we can look to generate mor money internally”
“We can also have an international industrial policy, we can mobilize internal resources, we can control capital influence, we can earn more from our natural resources and we can be far more efficient in our own government practices” he noted.
He endeavors to alleviate the effects of the country’s debt which stands at GHS 230 billion.
